Former NBA All-Star Kemba Walker has announced his retirement, ending a long successful career.
Walker last played for Monaco, but from the start of his episode with Sasa Obradovic, it was clear that he was not in the right shape.
The American point guard announced all of this on Instagram with a farewell message, which begins with “thank you, basketball”.
“I want to start that by thanking God for everything he has given me. Basketball has done more for me than I could’ve ever imagined, and I am super thankful for the amazing journey I’ve had. With that, I’m here to share that I am officially retiring from the game of basketball. This has all been a dream. When I look back, I still can’t believe the things I achieved in my career”, wrote Walker.
Walker had a great college and NBA career. He won the NCAA title with Connecticut, and then played in the NBA for Charlotte Hornets for 7 years, then moved to Boston Celtics where he spent 2 years. In recent seasons, when the injury already took its toll, he played for the New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks.
He played the last season of his career for Monaco, but he didn’t manage to do anything there either. He was a four-time All-Star, and averaged 19.3 points per game.
