Kevin Durant has become the first player in this NBA season to score 200 or more points, and the Phoenix Suns defeated the Detroit Pistons with a score of 120:108.
The Phoenix Suns played once again without Devin Booker, who is dealing with an calf injury, but it didn’t prevent them from securing a comfortable win over the Pistons today.
One man show
After the first quarter, the game was tied, but by halftime, the Suns had taken a 58:49 lead into the locker room. It turned out to be a lead that was enough to secure the win. It was actually a one-man show by Kevin Durant, who almost single-handedly carried his team to a 120:108 win on the road.
Kevin Durant scored 41 points with five assists (14-27 from the field, 12-12 free throws), Eric Gordon added 21 points and eight assists, and Jusuf Nurkic had an excellent performance with six points, four rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and three blocks.
For the Pistons, the top performers were Cade Cunningham with 26 points, Marcus Sasser with 22 points, and rookie Ausar Thompson with 14 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, steals, and blocks each. He became the first rookie with such stat lines since Kevin Garnett.
Both teams now have a 3-4 record, and the Suns will face the Chicago Bulls on the road in the next round, while the Pistons will host the Golden State Warriors.
