Kevin Pangos is one of the four players who have been removed from the Canadian roster for the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
Coach Jordi Fernandez has trimmed the roster from 18 to 14 players, and the players affected are Cory Joseph, Kassius Robertson, and Oshae Brissett and Kevin Pangos.
Pangos was removed from the roster on August 4th. The reason is due to injury from the previous season that continues to pose problems for him. Pangos has been dealing with ligament issues since November of the past year.
In addition, concerns have been raised about the health of Jamal Murray in recent days. However, despite his absence there remains optimism within Canada’s basketball community.
Murray might make a return when the team travels to Spain for a tournament. On that tournament Canada will play against Spain and the Dominican Republic on August 17th and 18th.
The following players have remained on the roster: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, R.J. Barrett, Lu Dort, Dillon Brooks, Kelly Olynyk, Dwight Powell, Trae Bell-Haynes, Kyle Alexander, Melvin Ejim, Zach Edey, Phil Scrubb, Tommy Scrubb.
Canada is placed in a group alongside teams from France, Lebanon, and Latvia in Indonesia.
FIBA World Cup is scheduled to take place from August 25th to September 10th.
