Partizan basketball player Kevin Punter talked about individual earnings, since arriving in Europe.
On the Swish Cultures podcast, Punter revealed the heights of his contracts since his first engagement on the Old Continent.
“In the first season in Europe, I earned $40,000, and I got my first seven figure contract in the sixth season. So it took me five seasons to get there,” Punter said.
Given that the American guard signed for Partizan in 2021, that season was his sixth in European basketball, which he arrived in 2016, when he wore the Lavrio jersey.
“I had a goal. When I was playing for Lavrio, I came across a EuroLeague game. The quality of the game immediately caught my eye, even though I knew nothing about the competition at the time. I called the agent to tell me more and told him that one day I will be at that level.
When I was in the US in the summer, I worked hard and didn’t waste money. I had a plan of four or five years and I knew exactly what my goal was. For me, the most important thing is to play a lot and to be able to take care of my people financially.“
Now Punter is one of the best guards in Europe. He recently spoke to Basketball Sphere about how much he has changed under the leadership of Zeljko Obradovic.
“Playing for Obradovic helped me a lot. Mentally, he made me think more throughout the game – decision making, different types of passes. He helped me a lot to reach a higher level,” said the captain of the black and whites.
