It appears that Klay Thompson is set to depart from the Golden State Warriors after spending 13 years with the team in San Francisco.
The fact that the club’s management has yet to offer a new contract to the refined shooter indicates that he is not their top priority this summer. According to “The Athletic,” negotiations are currently on hold with no concrete offer on the table. Additionally, reports suggest that the Warriors believe Klay Thompson will not be highly sought after in the market, potentially allowing them to sign him at a much lower price than he is demanding.
The Warriors’ season ended early, as they were swept off the court by the Sacramento Kings in the play-in round. A poignant moment occurred at the end of that game. Not only were the faces of the Warriors players filled with disappointment, but Klay Thompson’s stood out. While his teammates headed to the locker room, Thompson paused for several seconds to take in the arena filled with Warriors fans who had supported him from the beginning, witnessing each of their four championships.
Klay Thompson has played an incredible number of memorable games, setting numerous NBA records and scorching the nets of every opponent in the league. However, the game against the Sacramento Kings was not one of his best. In fact, it may have been the worst game of his career. Thompson took 10 shots from the field but failed to make a single one. His trademark three-point shooting was completely off (0/6).
Klay Thompson sure looks like a guy who might have played his last game in a Warriors jersey
