Klay Thompson recently made waves in the NBA community by unfollowing the Golden State Warriors on Instagram and removing all posts related to the team.
This move has sparked speculation about his future, especially with his impending free agency. Thompson, a cornerstone of the Warriors since he was drafted in 2011, has had a storied career with the team, contributing to four NBA championships and earning five All-Star selections. As he nears the end of his current contract, worth $190 million over five years, earning $43.2 million for the 2023-24 season, his future with the franchise has come into question.
Draymond Green, Thompson’s teammate, addressed the situation on his podcast with amusement rather than concern.
“I know all of you were probably looking forward to me talking about Klay unfollowing the Warriors and deleting some IG posts or something. I had no idea that happened,”Green shared on his latest podcast episode. “I think it’s f***ing hilarious.”

Green continued, dismissing any notion of personal offense or conflict within the team: “I think that’s comical. I know you all want somebody’s feelings to be hurt or something. It ain’t that. Ain’t never going to be that. That’s hilarious.”
Earlier this season, the Warriors offered Thompson a two-year extension valued at approximately $48 million, which he declined, indicating potential differences in future plans between him and the team. Reports also suggest that the Orlando Magic have shown interest in acquiring Thompson.
