Canadian basketball player Kyle Wiltjer is set to join the Italian team Reyer Venezia after spending a season in China, as confirmed by the Serie A club.
In the previous season with the Zhejiang Lions, the 30-year-old Canadian forward averaged 16.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Wiltjer has previously played in Europe for Olympiacos, Malaga, Turk Telekom, and Tenerife, where he won the FIBA Champions League in the 2021/22 season.
With this signing, Reyer Venezia has filled the gap left by the departure of Bruno Caboclo, who never joined the Italian team despite having a signed contract.
Venezia will compete in the Eurocup next season in Group A alongside Besiktas, Cedevita Olimpija, Hapoel Tel Aviv, Joventut, London Lions, Paris, Prometey, Hamburg, and Wolves.
Kyle Wiltjer, the best three-point shooter in the Spanish Endesa League in the 2021-22 season with an impressive 47.8% success rate from beyond the three-point line, and a NCAA champion with the Kentucky Wildcats in 2012, was not selected in the NBA Draft in 2016. However, he eventually joined the Houston Rockets and also played for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
In the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China, he led Canada with an average of 16.4 points per game.
