Kyrie Irving, a basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks, did not make the list of 12 players who will represent the United States at the upcoming Olympic Games.
The selected 12 players who make up the new “Dream Team” are: LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, Anthony Davis, Bam Adebayo, Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Jrue Holiday, and Kawhi Leonard.
“I wish my brothers all the best”
Kyrie Irving, who has a gold medal from the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games and another from the FIBA World Cup two years earlier, had a clear message:
“I wish my brothers all the best. I simply wasn’t a good fit for this team. The selection process was tough. But again, I have nothing but respect for those guys. At this point in my career, I think my focus should be on winning a championship,” said Kyrie Irving.
The last time the American team was defeated at the Olympic Games was way back in 2004. They were outplayed by the Argentinians. The USA will play their first game at the Olympic Games against the Serbian national team.
Irving, with the Dallas Mavericks, is gearing up for the NBA playoffs. They face the Los Angeles Clippers as their first-round opponent.
