Kyrie Irving had a huge losing streak against the Boston Celtics, his former team. Yesterday, he finally snapped it.
The Dallas Mavericks cut the down the Boston Celtics’ series lead to 3-1. The win could be extra special for the Mavs’ guard. Namely Irving has lost 13 straight games against his former team. That streak stretched from his time in the Brooklyn Nets.
But it’s over now and Irving finally scored a win over his former team. During Friday’s game, he had 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists. Coincidentally, the night Irving rubbed the soles of his shoes on Boston’s Lucky logo was when his losing streak began.
Kyrie Irving had publicly admitted that the Celtics had his number and were always able to somehow shut him down and minimize him on the court.
Irving and the Celtics have a rough history, of course, because he used to play for the team and ended things on bad terms with them.
After leaving the Celtics for the Brooklyn Nets, Irving openly commented on the city and its fanbase, casting both in a negative light.
