Lassi Tuovi, head of the coaching staff of the Finnish national team, spoke at the press conference after the match against Germany.
The young specialist on the bench of Finland did not have many reasons to be satisfied. They finished their appearance in the opening part of the FIBA World Cup with three defeats in as many games played. The last rival that beat them was Germany with a score of 101:75.
“We opened the game well, threatened at the beginning, and then they showed what a quality team they are. We had several good periods, but simply, it takes time and a lot of work to improve the game of the national team” – said Lassi Tuovi.
The range of Germany
“They can go very far. The tournament continues in the second group, which will be very demanding. In the next phase, there are simply no weak opponents and matches of lower intensity.
The self-confidence they have will give them the opportunity to potentially reach the last day of the tournament. It will be interesting to watch those games, I wish them all the best” – concluded the coach of the Finnish national team, Lassi Tuovi.
Finland ended its performance at this year’s edition of the FIBA World Cup with three defeats. They were outplayed by Australia and Germany in Group E, and the defeat by Japan was one of the biggest surprises in the tournament so far.
