LeBron James, a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, spoke to the media ahead of the NBA playoff first-round matchup against the Denver Nuggets.
In addition to previewing the showdown against the reigning champions, against whom they have played four games this season, with the Denver Nuggets emerging victorious each time, LeBron James was also asked about his participation in the upcoming Olympic Games representing the USA.
“The USA jersey means everything to me! It will be my first time playing for the USA national team in 12 years. I have wonderful memories from the last time I represented the red, white, and blue at the Olympic Games,” said James.
In the USA team, his teammate will be Anthony Davis from the Los Angeles Lakers.
“I can’t wait to play alongside my friend Anthony in the national team. It will be incredibly fun for us. We’ve played together before, but he had just arrived from college back then, and we hadn’t won a championship together or played many seasons together.
I want to thank Grant Hill, Sean Ford, and the others for choosing me and Davis. When the time comes for us to come together, we will be extremely excited and happy to put on these jerseys and compete against the rest of the world. It will be a great moment for all of us,” James expressed his motivation.
The selected 12 players who make up the new “Dream Team” are: LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, Anthony Davis, Bam Adebayo, Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Jrue Holiday, and Kawhi Leonard.
LeBron James hasn’t played for the national team since 2012. The last time the American team was defeated at the Olympic Games was back in 2004 when they were outplayed by the Argentinians. The USA will play their first game at the Olympic Games against the Serbian national team.
