Lithuania defeated Montenegro 91:71 without too many problems, in the third round of Group D FIBA World Cup.
An extremely effective confrontation marked the beginning of the game. Montenegro started a little better, Marko Simonovic was the initiator, but the Lithuanians caught the rhythm towards the end of the section and got their rivals into trouble.
From that moment on, the team led by Kazys Maksvytis was better. Offensive jumps and misses of rivals were charged before leaving for the big break, so Lithuania waited for the second half with plus eight.

It was just a hint of the Lithuanians’ surge in the third period. With excellent defense, but also poor shooting percentages for three rivals, Maksvytis’ team was surely moving towards a surplus of 20 points. He reached such an advantage at the beginning of the fourth quarter and successfully maintained it until the end.
Thus, Lithuania secured first place in the group, while Montenegro was second. Rokas Jokubaitis with 19 and Mindaugas Kuzminskas with 15 points were the most effective for the winners.
The losers were led by Nikola Vucevic with 19 points.
