The London Lions defeated Cluj on the road by 91:79 in the EuroCup quarterfinals, achieving the greatest success in the club’s history.
Tarik Phillip and David Nwaba got the Lions off to a great start, allowing them to control the score during the first five minutes of the game (14:9). The visitors then went on a 12:3 run, establishing the first double-digit lead of the game – 22:12. Cluj closed the gap to just two possessions after a 6:0 run, but Petar Bozic’s team responded with seven straight points to regain a significant lead before the first break – 29:18.
The Romanian club started the second quarter brilliantly, going on a 10:2 run to reduce their team’s deficit to just three points (31:28). Conor Morgan then sparked a new run for the London Lions, who scored 18 consecutive points to take a huge 18-point lead (49:31). Cluj managed to cut the deficit to a more manageable 51:37 by halftime.
