Los Angeles Clippers will do everything to keep Paul George in that team next season, as ESPN reports from its sources.
George has the possibility to activate the player option in the contract, according to which he will earn $48.8 million in the coming year.
And that’s not all, as the Los Angeles Clippers can extend the great shooting guard for another four years for $221 million, but the two sides have yet to come to an agreement.
As stated by the president of basketball operations in the aforementioned team, Lawrence Frank, negotiations are underway with George and his agent Aaron Mintz.
If there is no contract extension by Saturday, George will become a free agent and even if he uses his player option for the next season, he will be able to ask the Los Angeles Clippers to trade him to another team.
“We love Paul, we want him here a lot, but at the same time we understand that this is all business and we respect his decision,” said Frank.
George averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists last season, but the Los Angeles Clippers couldn’t get past the first round of the Western Conference, where they were eliminated 4-2 by the Dallas Mavericks.
