Bronny James was selected as the 55th pick in the NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, and he will play alongside his father LeBron James.
This will be the first time in the NBA’s history books that a father and son will be part of the same team in the highest-quality competition on the planet.
Bronny James posted averages of 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists across 25 games during his sole college season, where he started six times. His time at USC was marked by a significant setback last summer when he experienced a cardiac arrest during practice, forcing him to sit out the first eight games of the Trojan’s season.
This incident sparked widespread speculation about James potentially extending his college career, but he ultimately chose to enter the draft. Now, he is set to join forces with his father in the upcoming season.
The Lakers were long seen as the inevitable landing spot for Bronny James, but before the draft, his agent Rich Paul hinted at a competitive market for the young talent.
“There are other teams that have a strong interest in Bronny,” Paul remarked. “Teams like Minnesota, Dallas, and Toronto. If not the Lakers, someone else will certainly be interested.”
