Luca Banchi, the head coach of Virtus from Bologna, spoke about his team’s upcoming game against Panathinaikos in the EuroLeague.
After a victory in the Italian derby, Virtus has achieved a 6-2 record in the elite European competition. Now, in the second game of the double round, the team from Bologna is set to visit Athens.
“Panathinaikos is certainly one of the teams that were most active during the summer transfer window. With the arrival of coach Ataman, Athens has become an attractive destination for high-profile players with international experience, like Sloukas, Lessort, Hernangomez, Vildoza, and Grant,” said Banchi, turning his attention to his own team:
“We continue to control the situation. I ask the team to limit the impact that a physically strong team like Panathinaikos can have on the game. They are in good form, with two consecutive triumphs, and led by the talent of players like Sloukas, Vildoza, Grant, Grigonis, and newcomer Nunn. We need to pay attention to the excellent performances of Mitoglou, who is playing at a high level, making him one of the main threats to our team.
After Milan, we will ask our guys to prepare for another match of high technical and competitive content, knowing that our game on both ends of the court can conquer a traditionally hostile venue like the ‘OAKA Arena,” concluded Italian coach Luca Banchi.
