Luca Vildoza, in an interview with SDNA, revealed the decisive reason for changing his environment and wearing Panathinaikos’ jersey.
The Argentine recently suffered an injury that caused him to miss most of the games that the “Greens” played during the preseason.
“My leg is fine. I’ve started training with the team, and I feel good. I’m trying to get back in shape. My ankle still bothers me occasionally and hurts a bit, but I’m doing well. I will play in the Super Cup even if it bothers me a little”.
Luca Vildoza discussed how Ergin Ataman’s system is a perfect fit for him, and he emphasized that there’s no need for in-depth analysis.
“This is not something that needs to be analyzed in detail because we know head coach Ataman and what he wants. He loves playing for guards and pick-and-roll, which suits me, and I know what I need to do”.
In an interview with the Greek portal mentioned earlier, Luca Vildoza also revealed why he chose Panathinaikos.
“I asked about which players would come, who the new coach would be. Everyone on the team was willing and ready to build a good team because, to be honest, Panathinaikos hasn’t been at the level befitting a team with such a history in the last two years. But this summer was different. From the moment head coach Ataman signed, I thought it was the best choice for me”.
In addition to his discussions with the Turkish coach, the former Crvena Zvezda player also communicated with the president of the Athens giant.
“We talked several times. Recently, we all had lunch together, and we had the opportunity to meet him there. He’s doing his job very well. He made an effort this summer, and now it’s all in our hands”.
In the past season, Luca Vildoza was one of the best players for the club from Belgrade, as evidenced by his average of 12.6 points per game in the EuroLeague.
Before coming to Belgrade, the Argentine played for Quilmes, Baskonia, and the Milwaukee Bucks (NBA).
Panathinaikos will open the new EuroLeague season on October 6th when their fierce rival, Olympiacos, visits the OAKA Arena.
