Luca Vildoza spoke in an interview with “Mozzart Sport” about his time with Crvena Zvezda and the third game against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The Argentine had a season full of ups and downs, both personally and professionally. He lost confidence, especially after his injury. It was tough to get back into form; his knee was really bothering him. Now he’s feeling good, even though it’s towards the end of the season, he’s at 100 percent and ready to help the team.
“I’ve had ups and downs this season, there’s no doubt about that. I lost my confidence, especially after the injury. It was tough to get back into form, my knee was really bothering me. Now I’m feeling good, I know it’s towards the end of the season, but I’m at 100 percent now and ready to help.
I feel the confidence that was missing. I’m doing everything the coach wants from me. I want to showcase my talent and abilities. If it’s for five or seven minutes on the court, okay. I’ll do that too. Whenever I step on the court, I want to contribute,” Luca Vildoza began.
He then commented on the series with Maccabi Tel Aviv, with Panathinaikos setting a goal to finish the job in Belgrade.
“A real battle awaits us. Maccabi Tel Aviv is quite different, primarily due to their attacking style. We have to adapt in various ways to how they play because they’re a seriously talented team, and without a doubt, we have a tough task ahead in these two games in Belgrade.”
He then spoke about his favorite moment in the red and white jersey, which was the semifinals of the Radivoj Korac Cup in 2023, where the players from Mali Kalemegdan defeated their “eternal” rival:
“An experience for a lifetime. Truly unforgettable. Above all, the Radivoj Korac Cup in Nis. That game, that atmosphere, surreal, unforgettable. Sometimes that game randomly pops into my head, and I still can’t believe how it was. I’m really glad when we won that trophy.”
For the final remarks, he compared the Greek derby with the “eternal” one:
“I think the derbies between Partizan and Zvezda and Olympiacos and Panathinaikos are quite different. It’s because of the arena. In Pionir, you really feel the crowd, you feel the pressure. When the arena is bigger, the atmosphere is great, there’s no doubt, both in Athens and in Belgrade, but Pionir is something special. I hope that Zvezda will win the ABA League this season,” Vildoza concluded.
