Panathinaikos basketball player Luca Vildoza dedicated part of his statement to Sportklub to the upcoming EuroLeague game and his former club.
Vildoza touched upon the duel against Olympiacos, which begins tonight at 20:15. Previously, the red and whites inflicted a heavy defeat on their rivals in the Super Cup.
“It will be good to play in front of our fans. This is a new EuroLeague season for me, a new challenge. This year, we have a good team, but the EuroLeague is a tough competition. We will see if we can succeed. We haven’t forgotten the recent loss to Olympiacos, and our motivation is to show that we are not the same team. We will work on ourselves. We need to be better in defense and, especially, in offense,” said Luca Vildoza.
The Argentinian player continued talking about their biggest rival.
“Olympiacos is a great team that has been together for five years, and it shows. We have potential, big names, but in Europe, there is no time. Results are expected, that’s why we are here. We are all good players, but we need to get to know each other better. We must stick together; the city is with us, as well as the fans.”
Vildoza then compared playing in Belgrade and Athens, considering that he was a member of Crvena Zvezda in the previous seasons.
“OAKA is a bit bigger compared to Pionir, there will be a lot of people. On the other hand, in Belgrade, there were fewer fans, but you felt at home. That’s something I miss a bit until I start here with Panathinaikos. People here are as ‘crazy’ as in Belgrade; they provide support. I’m happy to be part of such a team,” Argentinian guard said.
