Luigi Datome, a legend of Italian basketball, spoke to local media about various topics, including the entry of Dubai.
Dubai seems to be on the verge of entering European basketball, and he emphasized that there is a serious possibility for them to join the EuroLeague in the coming seasons.
“That’s a possibility. I understand that the EuroLeague today is not as sustainable because many teams are recording losses. It’s less romantic, but it can be useful to align the numbers,” Luigi Datome began.
He said he understands that fans may not like it, but it’s simply the reality.
“I understand that fans may be upset, but as long as someone is not willing to lose money, everyone is happy. When owners no longer want to lose money, everyone will say it would be better to seek other sources of income. It’s hard to summarize in one minute, but I understand the emotions,” he said.
FIBA and ULEB have finally agreed on schedules, and a Milanese official emphasized the importance of these two organizations being in agreement.
“It’s important because everyone looks at their own job, but we should look from a distance, with a vision, to understand how to grow together. We all want the same thing: a better product, players who are okay on the court, who don’t get injured, who play great games. To achieve this, considering the unattainable competitor like the NBA, we must join forces,” the official stated.
