Luka Doncic, representative of Slovenia, spoke about how he feels before the continuation of the FIBA World Cup.
Doncic mentioned that he’s not in perfect condition, but that it won’t stop him from stepping onto the court.
“Many things are bothering me, but I will play. Opponents play quite physically against me, which I’m used to” the best player of the Slovenia national team responded briefly, as reported by siol.net.
Slovenia finished the first phase with all three victories. Now they face a tough task. They need to compete against Germany and Australia to secure one of the two spots that lead to the quarterfinals.
“Australians are a good team with excellent players. We are prepared, we know what we came for. I believe we can defeat both teams” emphasized the Dallas Mavericks player. He also assessed that his team performed very poorly in the bronze medal game at the Tokyo Olympics, precisely against the “Boomers”
Doncic? I’m not sure what to say
Luka Doncic has been close to achieving the first triple-double in the history of FIBA World Cup in every game of the tournament.
“I’m not interested in that. The only thing that matters to me is that we win,” concluded the Slovenian.
As for the health status of the Slovenian team, it’s not the best. Coach Aleksander Sekulic discussed it in a press conference, as did the team doctor Marko Macura.
“The situation regarding Jaka Blazic, whose injury was the most serious, is progressing. He has started to perform basketball movements, but he still feels pain. It’s difficult to say if he will be ready for tomorrow, but he’s not ruled out.
Gregor Hrovat has already resumed regular therapies after a muscle hit, and as for Luka Doncic, I’m not sure what to say. He takes a lot of hits every game, he plays constantly in pain, but his performance is not in question.”
Slovenia is set to face Australia in their first match of the newly formed Group K tomorrow at 14:10.
