Luka Doncic, a member of the Slovenian national team at the FIBA World Cup, spoke at a press conference after the game against Australia.
Slovenia has many reasons to be pleased, and after the triumph over Australia with a score of 91-80, they still haven’t experienced a defeat at the World Cup. Furthermore, they’ve secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the global competition. Luka Doncic finished this game with 20 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in just 18 minutes on the court.
“This was a very tough game. We’re happy because we won regardless of everything. We have a great team, great players, and I’m really proud of my team. We showed that we are a real team no matter what,” said Luka Doncic.
Double-teaming on defense
“They did it on every possession. It opened up space for others, even though we missed some open shots, we managed to achieve our goal of winning. I don’t know who the favorite is, probably the USA or Canada. We take it game by game, give our all every time, just as we did today. This was quite an important game, absolutely everyone on the team gave 100%, and that’s why we won.”
Four fouls and a questionable technical
“I believed in my teammates. I received the technical for taking a shot at the basket. I think every player does that at least once during every game. The referee told me he hadn’t seen it before and gave me the technical. In the tough moments, we all stayed composed and gave our maximum.”
On the documentary film about the Slovenian national team
“It wasn’t difficult to film that. The camera was there (laughs). In that way, we promoted our country, and it was enjoyable to be a part of it. I think it was a great idea.”
About Germany as the next opponent
“They are a great team, tonight we will rest and have fun, and from tomorrow we will start thinking about Germany. They have Dennis Schroder, a great team, but we won’t talk about it now.”
