Luka Doncic has started the new NBA season in a fantastic way, breaking some records along the way. Tonight, in the victory against Memphis (125-110), he achieved a triple-double.
The Slovenian superstar led the Texas team with 35 points (5/10 from two-point range and 6/12 from three-point range) and added an impressive 12 rebounds and 12 assists.
After the first three games of the season, Doncic is the league’s top scorer, averaging 39 points per game, along with 11.7 rebounds and 9.7 assists per game. He’s the only player this season in the league with a triple-double of 30 points, while all other NBA players have not achieved such a feat. Doncic already has two triple-doubles this season.
In doing so, he became only the third player in history, following Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook, to achieve two monstrous triple-doubles with 30 points in the first three games of the season.
Over the past five seasons, he has recorded 31 games with a triple-double of 30 points or more. The only player ahead of him is Nikola Jokic, but with a whopping 12 fewer games with such an achievement. Doncic is already in the Top 5 of all-time players with triple-doubles of 30 points.
With this victory in Memphis, the Slovenian has led Dallas to three consecutive wins to start the season. The last time the Mavericks achieved this was in 2004, when Luka Doncic was just five years old.
