Luka Doncic spoke ahead of Slovenia’s match against Croatia at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Piraeus.
The Slovenian superstar appeared in good spirits, highlighting the need to adjust to various aspects.
“We’ve had two training sessions here in Piraeus. I just played a friendly match against Brazil in Stozice, so I’m slowly getting back into European mode. However, there are several differences. The ball is different, the three-point line is closer, and the rules are different,” Luka Doncic began.
He then commented on the opponent:
“They have great individuals that we know well. First is Mario Hezonja from Real Madrid, then Dario Saric and Ivica Zubac from the NBA. It will be crucial to stop those three, but of course, we must not forget the other Croatian players. We want to win because every game is important.”
Slovenia qualified for the last Olympic Games through a similar tournament. Back then, they defeated Lithuania in Kaunas, and Doncic wouldn’t mind a repeat performance.
“I remember that game in Kaunas. We played in front of a full house and won. It would be nice to repeat that in this arena in front of the loud Greek crowd. But until then, we have a lot of work to do. We have to think about the first game, which is Croatia, then New Zealand, and we’ll see further.”
