Luka Doncic has been named to the All-NBA First Team, setting the stage for him to sign the most lucrative contract in basketball history.
According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the Slovenian star is set to become the first player to earn over $70 million annually. Starting next season, he can sign a supermax contract for five years, potentially worth $318 million. This figure could increase further if the salary cap rises by more than 10% over the next three years, making the contract worth up to $367 million.
Additionally, several other players will be eligible to sign supermax contracts after this season, including Jamal Murray, De’Aaron Fox, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Bam Adebayo, Pascal Siakam, Brandon Ingram, and Jaren Jackson Jr.
Currently, Luka Doncic is playing in the Western Conference Finals. The Mavs lead the series 1-0 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
