Luka Doncic is still the youngest player ever to debut in the EuroLeague for the “Royal Club,” and you might be surprised by some of the names behind him.
The Slovenian national team representative played his first game in the elite competition when he was only 16 years and 230 days old. His rise continued to incredible heights, and it can be said that, at least for now, he has a dream career.
With Real Madrid, he won the EuroLeague in the 2017/2018 season when he lifted the trophy for the champion in Belgrade. He was the MVP of both the regular season and the Final Four. He has won seven trophies with the Spanish giants. Luka Doncic led the Slovenian national team to a gold medal at the European Championship in 2017.
Second on the list of the youngest players is Dino Radoncic, currently playing for Bayern Munich. He made his debut in the EuroLeague with Real Madrid when he was 16 years and 287 days old. An interesting fact is that Ismaila Diagne, who made his debut against Baskonia at that time, was only three days older than Radoncic in terms of EuroLeague debut. He spent six minutes on the court without scoring.
Polish international Maciej Lampe was 16 years and 360 days old when he first appeared in the EuroLeague. He played for several clubs in his career, and it’s noteworthy that he also played for Barcelona later in his career. The fifth youngest is Jonathan Barreiro, who crossed the age of 17 at the time of his EuroLeague debut.
