Luka Doncic spoke to the media ahead of Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics at TD Garden.
The Celtics are on the verge of winning the title, as they have a 3-1 lead. Two seasons ago, they also played in the finals but were defeated by the Golden State Warriors. For the Dallas Mavericks, this is their first finals appearance since 2011 when Dirk Nowitzki, alongside teammates like Peja Stojakovic and Jason Kidd, won the trophy against the Miami Heat.
It is known that Luka Doncic has been playing under painkilling injections since the first game. He has issues with chest pains, swelling in his right knee, and a sprained left ankle. Additionally, he has been dealing with lower back injuries for several months. However, this hasn’t affected his mindset and approach to the game, where neither he nor his teammates have considered giving up despite a significant deficit.
“In these moments of the season, a lot of difficulties and such things happen. Apart from everything, I’m fine, I will play. Don’t worry about that. This is basketball, and on the court, each team is represented by five players. We need to approach it like we did in the fourth game, involve all team members in the game. Everyone has to play with a lot of energy, and that’s what we will do in Game 5 in Boston,” said Luka Doncic.
Before the Slovenian international spoke to the media, coach Jason Kidd addressed what he believes is the toughest aspect of the NBA. It’s also noteworthy that a magical streak in the context of discussions about the final games will have to be broken.
With the score at 3-1, the Boston Celtics will have a new game point at TD Garden. Game 5 is scheduled for Monday night into Tuesday at 2:30 AM Central European Time.
