Luka Mitrovic, the former captain of Crvena Zvezda, spoke to ‘Mozzart Sport’ about the new season and who he’s eagerly looking forward to sharing the court with.
The Serbian player first addressed the preseason preparations. He mentioned that they were tough but not as they used to be. He emphasized that everything now revolves around basketball exclusively.
“We had longer and tougher preparations; we also had many games. Today, however, they don’t last as long as before. In a month, you have to fit everything in. We immediately start with the basketball part. No more running through mountains, parks, and forests, which is good, and it’s easier for us through both team and basketball training” – Mitrovic began and continued:
“We worked hard; it’s not like we didn’t. We had a significant number of good EuroLeague tests. I wish we spent a bit more time all together, but that’s how it is. I hope that by the time of our first match against Igokea, we’ll have all players available and start the new victories together”.
Then he turned his attention to the EuroLeague, which is starting soon. Crvena Zvezda’s first opponent is Asvel, and the Red and White center emphasized that the competition is very balanced.
“I can’t remember when the EuroLeague was of higher quality. Maccabi kept their entire team, came close to the Final Four last season, only made a few changes, as did Real Madrid, who brought in Facu. Olympiacos is always at the top, Monaco kept almost their entire team and brought in a former NBA All-Star. We’re working hard, maybe even more than others, and we rely on being prepared” – said the Crvena Zvezda center.
The Milos Teodosic Factor
Finally, he spoke about Milos Teodosic. He said that everyone is excited about him, but they need to get used to the style of the former captain of Serbia.
“I’m looking forward to it. Every team craves a playmaker like Milos. Not to mention tall players. It will take some time to get used to him and his passes. There have been a few times when he threw a pass where you didn’t expect it, and it went through your hands, and then you realize that you should expect the unexpected”.
