Luke Sikma has left Olympiacos after one season, confirmed by the Greek club through social media.
The Piraeus-based Red-Whites thanked the player for his contribution and wished him luck in his future career endeavors.
“Luke Sikma, thank you for your dedication. You have always been a true team player! Good luck in all your future endeavors,” reads the club’s announcement on social media.
The American forward-center joined Olympiacos after a successful six-year stint with Alba Berlin and was touted as a significant addition. However, Luke Sikma struggled to find his role under coach Georgios Bartzokas, resulting in his least productive EuroLeague season with only 2.7 points and the same number of rebounds per game across 22 games.
This 35-year-old forward-center has also played for Burgos, Tenerife, and Valencia in his career, winning the Spanish championship with Valencia.
Luke Sikma is the second player to depart from the ranks of the Greek runner-up, following Isaiah Canaan, who joined Crvena Zvezda.
The club has so far welcomed two guards: Tyler Dorsey from Fenerbahce and Luca Vildoza from their biggest rival, Panathinaikos.
