Maccabi Tel Aviv, currently ranked tenth in the EuroLeague, wants to play its home games in Israel again.
The EuroLeague’s competition director, Diego Guillen, was in Israel over the past weekend, where he had the opportunity to watch the derby game between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv.
This season, the Israeli team has only hosted one EuroLeague game, in the first round against Partizan, when they secured a routine win. Since then, all their home games, Maccabi Tel Aviv has played in Belgrade at the “Aleksandar Nikolic” hall.
However, the situation could now change as Guillen spent 2 days in Israel and witnessed the currently stable situation in the country. Nevertheless, Guillen cannot make any decisions alone, so the whole case will be presented later in the season at a shareholders’ meeting, where it will be decided whether Tel Aviv team will return home.
