The basketball player from Baskonia, Marcus Howard, will extend his contract with the team for two more years, as reported by the Spanish Marca.
Howard’s current contract was set to expire next summer, which means that with this new agreement, he will commit to the team until 2026.
As reported by the reputable media outlet, the shooting guard for the Vitoria-based team will receive a significant salary increase starting this season and even more in the following two seasons. This will make him one of the highest-paid guards in Europe.
The former Denver Nuggets player had an excellent last season when Baskonia narrowly missed the playoffs at the last moment. In the EuroLeague, he averaged 14.2 points while shooting 36.5 percent from three.
In the Endesa League, his numbers were even better, with 16.5 points and a 42.4 percent three-point shooting percentage. However, even there, Baskonia couldn’t reach the finals as they were defeated by Joventut in the quarterfinal series.
He began his professional career after a successful college stint with the Marquette Golden Eagles. As a collegiate player, Howard was a prolific scorer and one of the top shooters in NCAA history.
Marcus Howard went undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft but later signed a two-way contract with the Denver Nuggets. In his rookie season, he showed flashes of his scoring prowess and had some impressive performances. Afterward, he joined Baskonia in Spain, where he continued to develop his game.
