Mark Cuban officially surrendered his role as the lead decision maker of the Dallas Mavericks’ basketball operations per ESPN.
This news follows the report of him selling his majority stake of the team to Patrick Dumont who is the new governor of the team.
The new head of basketball operations is their general manager Nico Harrison, who extended his contract with the team recently.
Although Cuban‘s opinion will still carry some weight in roster decisions, he may no longer have the final say on trades, draft selections, or free agency signings.
With Cuban stepping back, Harrison can now fully control basketball decisions. He has already made significant moves, such as trading for P.J. Washington and leading the Mavericks to the 2024 NBA Finals. Mark Cuban bought the franchise in 2000.
