Mark Daigneault, the head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder, has spoken about the reasons behind Aleksej Pokusevski’s reduced role this season.
Despite expectations for Pokusevski to have at least the same role as in previous seasons upon his return from injury, the Serbian forward has played only 7 games this season, averaging 6.1 minutes per game. During this time, he has recorded modest stats of 0.9 points and 1.1 rebounds.
The head coach of the Thunder was asked to comment on Pokusevski’s non-participation.
“He is healthy. It’s possible to dress 15 players for a game, and we’ve been unusually fortunate in terms of health this season. Three players can’t play in every game, and we usually choose the 15 players we believe are most important for that particular game,” said Mark Daigneault.
It seems that this is indeed the right choice for the Thunder’s coach, as his team currently holds a record of 30-13, leading the Western Conference of the NBA, and sharing the same record as the Minnesota Timberwolves.
