Mateusz Ponitka confirmed that he will no longer be a Partizan player, so he will part ways with the black and whites after one year.
Last summer, Ponitka signed for a “one plus one” season, which the club did not use to extend cooperation with him.
“It’s true, I’m leaving Partizan,” Ponitka told Mozzartsport briefly.
Ponitka came to Belgrade as someone who could be useful from the second plan, but from the beginning of his episode with Zeljko Obradovic, things did not go as they should.
First, he injured his shoulder, which caused him to miss the opening part of the season, after which it was increasingly difficult for him to find the right form. Everything coincided with the bad games of black and white during the season, but he played better at the end, which was not enough for Partizan to avoid failures in the finals of the competition.
As is now certain, it was not even enough to keep Ponitka in Belgrade, so he will have to change the team, which will join Kevin Punter, Zach LeDay and Alen Smailagic.
The defensive-oriented guard averaged only 2.4 points and 2.2 rebounds in the EuroLeague last season.
