Matt Barnes, NBA champion from 2017, discussed the vacant position of the Los Angeles Lakers head coach in a conversation with TMZ Sports.
After losing in the first round of the NBA Western Conference playoffs to the Denver Nuggets with a score of 4-1, the Los Angeles Lakers have decided to dismiss head coach Darvin Ham and begin the search for a new head coach.
As main candidates for the position, JJ Redick, Kenny Atkinson, Mike Budenholzer, and Tyronn Lue were mentioned. In the meantime, Lue, who said he will stay with the Los Angeles Clippers, and Budenholzer, who has meanwhile signed with the Phoenix Suns, have dropped off the list. Matt Barnes believes that Redick definitely deserves a chance.
“JJ’s a great mind, he definitely deserves a shot. That Lakers seat is always going to be a hot seat, and it’s always going to be a fall seat. So whoever takes it better be ready. Gotta have tough skin,” Barnes said.
