In a remarkable display of skill and teamwork, Mega’s basketball team secured a resounding victory over Zadar, with a final score of 101-78, claiming the 5th place in the ABA Super Cup.
The first half of the game was marked by Mega’s exceptional performance, masterfully orchestrated by the talented playmaker, Nikola Topic. On loan from Crvena zvezda, Topic showcased the full extent of his talent, amassing 15 points in the opening 20 minutes, foreshadowing another brilliant performance. By halftime, Marko Barac’s squad held a commanding lead of +17 (48-31).

The second half saw little change in the dynamics on the court. Without Luka Bozic, Zadar’s team struggled to counter the relentless energy of Mega’s young talents, who extended their lead to an impressive 31 points at one stage. Ultimately, Mega secured a comfortable victory, securing the 5th position in the tournament in Podgorica, while Zadar bid farewell with a defeat.
Nikola Topic emerged as the top scorer of the match, amassing an impressive 27 points, with Stefan Miljenovic contributing 22 points. Arijan Lakic was the lone standout for Zadar, contributing 17 points.
Mega entered the game with a clear mission to secure victory in the first half. Marko Barax’s squad initiated the match with a 16-3 run, capitalizing on fast breaks and relying on Nikola TopiΔ’s exceptional skills. The 18-year-old point guard pierced through Zadar’s defense with his penetrations.

In the second quarter, Mega’s offense appeared even more fluid, while Zadar’s static gameplay yielded no results. The Croatian representatives struggled from beyond the arc, hitting only 3 out of 17 three-point attempts in the first half, leading to a 17-point deficit at halftime.
Mega continued their relentless pace in the third quarter, scoring an impressive 30 points, including 7 three-pointers. The Beograd-based team extended their lead to 30 points at the start of the fourth quarter.
With the outcome already decided, both the 19 spectators in attendance at the “Moraca” arena and the players and coaches knew that the game was well and truly over. Zadar managed to narrow the gap slightly in the final minutes, but not enough to avoid a humbling defeat in Podgorica.
