Sasha Vezenkov has been a hot topic of conversation across Europe in recent days, with widespread speculation about his potential return to Olympiacos.
After being traded from the Sacramento Kings to the Toronto Raptors under Darko Rajakovic, Italian media claimed that he was likely to be waived, leading to a probable return to Piraeus. However, Michael Grange, a journalist from the Sportsnet, has weighed in on the matter.
“So, according to those in position to know, reports that Sasha Vezenkov is leaving NBA to play in Greece are … not true. The former Sacramento Kings has one year left on his NBA deal, Toronto Raptors control his rights, and have no intention of waiving him and expect to have him in training camp. Carry on” – Michael Grange wrote.

The Bulgarian, who started his career in Greece, did not make a significant impact last year in the Sacramento Kings’ jersey. During the regular season, he played in 42 games (none as a starter) and averaged 12.2 minutes per game, with 5.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.5 assists.
Sasha Vezenkov spent five years in the red-and-white jersey. The highlight came in 2023 when he won the regular season MVP award. He played in two Final Fours, while being in one final, which Olympiacos lost against Real Madrid.
