Michael Malone, Denver Nuggets head coach, spoke to MileHighRachel about the loss in the series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Denver Nuggets failed to defend their title won last year after being eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves 4-3 in the NBA Western Conference semifinals. The Nuggets had everything in their hands, leading by 20 points in game seven, but they couldn’t close out the game.
Michael Porter Jr. played quite poorly by his standards in this series, averaging only 10.7 points with a shooting percentage of 37%. After the loss, he took the blame upon himself, but head coach Michael Malone stepped in to defend him.
“I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that I couldn’t disagree with Michael Porter Jr. more. I don’t want Michael Porter Jr. putting the series loss on him. We win together, we lose together. Michael is a huge part of our team. We do not beat the Los Angeles Lakers without Michael Porter’s stellar play, efficient play.”
