Monaco’s guard Mike James spoke on the Urbonas podcast about his desire for Nikola Mirotic to join the team in the Principality.
After a period of speculation, James is set to remain in Fontvieille for the upcoming season, and there was a chance for Montenegrin basketball player Mirotic to be part of the team.
“Considering both of us had a surprising exit in the Final Four, we talked about playing together, wherever it might be. He had some issues in Barcelona, so Monaco seemed like a logical choice,” the American basketball player began his explanation.

He revealed that he did everything he could to facilitate Mirotić’s potential move to the club, but the situation ended as many already know.
“I tried to connect him with the club. However, I’m not a general manager or a coach. I wasn’t in the room for those discussions. From my information, his first choice was Partizan, then me. He agreed with them, but many things happened. Milan was the last on his list at that moment,” explained Mike James.
Recall that there were rumors of Olympiacos showing interest in James’s services, but in the end, the American remained with Monaco. Starting next season, he will share the court with four-time All-Star Kemba Walker, who joined the team led by coach Saša Obradović in the summer transfer. This dynamic duo is expected to bring excitement to Monaco’s basketball scene.
