Mike Malone, the coach of the Denver Nuggets, summed up his impressions after the first game of the season in the NBA where his team defeated the Los Angeles Lakers.
Before the start of the game, the Nuggets were presented with the championship trophy, along with raising the famous banner to the rafters of the arena. Additionally, all players received specially designed diamond and gold rings.
“Clearly, being a part of the ring ceremony, being part of the ceremony where you raise the championship banner, it’s special, and you soak that in. But then, you know, you have to turn the page. So now, we’re starting, and we’re running into the 2023/2024 season.
We started really well tonight. As I told you and the team, ‘We have a target on our backs, and we will bring out the best in every team.’ So we can’t think that just beating the Los Angeles Lakers at home is enough. So what? That’s one game. We have to be even better on Friday in Memphis to try and go 2-0. And that will be a challenge in itself,” said Mike Malone after the opening win in the new season.
