Mike Tobey, Slovenian representative in the Crvena Zvezda jersey, spoke to “Meridian Sport” about his difficulties.
The American with a Slovenian passport talked about the chanting by the Crvena Zvezda fans, emphasizing that this moment meant a lot to him.
“It definitely means a lot to me. It’s not a secret, it was really hard for me, especially mentally. I really tried to get out of the whole situation, and the support of the fans means a lot to me. As athletes, we go through tough times. When you have the support of the fans and twenty thousand people chanting your name, it might be a bit too much at the free-throw line,” Mike Tobey joked.

He spoke about the trust he receives from teammates and coaches. He said he wants to repay that trust.
“They know I’m going through a tough time, but I’m trying to maintain positive energy within the team. But today was a great team victory. It turns out I talk a lot about myself, but what I want to say is that the team is essential. Teammates have my back, coaches have my back, and the fans do too. And I really just want to keep going and repay them.”
On the upcoming double round in the EuroLeague, facing Valencia and Baskonia
“I think this is an important week for us. We want to come back with two wins. It would be a big boost for us. First, we go to Valencia. It’s a special place for me. I’ve been there for so long. We have to go in there and win. As I said, this is an important week for us. If we can get two wins, it’s a huge step forward at this moment”, concluded Mike Tobey.
