Milano secured a win against Tortona, but only after a suspenseful ending by 79-75 in the Italian Serie A.
Before the game, there were no signs that Ettore Messina’s team would struggle during their visit to Tortona. However, everything witnessed in that match confirmed that there were indeed reasons for concern.
Tortona won the third quarter 24-13, resulting in a one-point lead for them entering the final 10 minutes. It became clear that the situation was alarming for Milano, but they managed to escape from the challenging away game with a late 9-2 run.
The top scorers for Milano were Nicolo Melli and Alex Poythress, each with 14 points. On the losing side, Kyle Weems led the way with 19 points.
Milano now holds a 3-1 record, while Tortona stands at 2-2 in the Italian Serie A.
Virtus secures a comfortable win
The other Italian EuroLeague team, Virtus, was secure in front of their home crowd, defeating Dinamo Sassari 80-66.
The guests put up a fight in the first quarter, where they were evenly matched. However, the Bologna team stepped up their game in the following quarters, building a double-digit lead. From time to time, Dinamo Sassari would reduce the deficit to single digits, but Virtus would quickly re-establish a larger lead.
Towards the end, there were no problems for Luka Banchi’s team, which, after defeating Crvena Zvezda, outperformed another opponent at home.
Awudu Abass and Jaleen Smith led the home team with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Dinamo Sassari had one double-digit scorer, Ousmane Diop, with 11 points.
This victory marked Virtus’s fourth win in as many games, while Dinamo Sassari suffered their third loss.
