The third quarter was more of the same. There was even a 32-point lead at one point, which was embarrassing for Nikola Jokic and his team. The number one defense in the NBA never faltered, and the team from Colorado had no way to break through the defensive wall.
In the final quarter, the reigning NBA champions managed to reduce the deficit slightly, but there was no chance of a major comeback. The team coached by Chris Finch knew this and handled the game routinely, the absence of Rudy Gobert was not felt at all. They now have a 2-0 lead and will have the opportunity to close out the series at home.
Anthony Edwards scored 27 points, as did Karl Anthony-Towns, who also grabbed 12 rebounds. Aaron Gordon was the leading scorer for the Denver Nuggets with 20 points. Nikola Jokic had 16 points and 16 rebounds but struggled with his shooting (5/12 from the field). Jamal Murray shot 3/18 in this game. The third game of the Western Conference semifinals will be played between Friday and Saturday night.
