In the seventh round of the LNB Pro A, Monaco defeated Bourg 78-67, remaining the only team undefeated in the championship.
The “Princes” started the game slightly better, but Bourg closed the first quarter with a 5-0 run, bringing the score to just a two-point deficit at 18-16. The visiting team maintained a good rhythm during the next ten minutes, leading to a complete turnaround (25-24). Unfortunately for them, Monaco closed the first half with a 5-0 run, regaining a two-point lead before halftime.
It seemed that the team from the Principality would break their opponent’s resistance in the middle of the third quarter, but Bourg efficiently returned to an even score with four three-pointers (52-48). Saša Obradović’s team opened the fourth quarter with a 10-2 run, giving them a double-digit lead and promising a better performance in the remainder of the game (63-50).
Bourg’s hopes were dashed in the second half of the fourth quarter when Monaco went on a 9-0 run, extending their lead to a maximum of 15 points (74-59). The visitors managed to string together eight points afterward, reducing the deficit to single digits, but time was not on their side. After seven rounds in the national championship, Monaco remained the only undefeated team.
The top scorer for Monaco was Mike James with 17 points, while for Bourg, Isiaha Mike stood out with 12 points.
Monaco remains in the first position on the table with a 7-0 record, while Bourg holds the third position with five wins and two losses.
In the next round, the “Princes” will visit Strasbourg, while Bourg will host Limoges on their home court. Before their challenges in the LNB Pro A, Monaco has a double-header in the EuroLeague, where they will face Crvena Zvezda and Alba.
