In the context of the fifth round of the ABA League, Mornar defeated Krka in the ‘Topolica” arena by 86-83, securing their first win of the new season.
Marko Radovanovic and Miha Cerkvenik were in great form, opening the match strongly for the visiting team, who quickly gained a nine-point lead (13-4). Through the efforts of Alex Gavrilovic, the team from Bar reduced the deficit and ended the first quarter trailing by just four points – 22-19.
Robert Jurkovic left nothing to chance, and Krka’s advantage quickly reached a double-digit lead (34-22). Mornar had some good moments, briefly closing the gap to just three points at one point, but Radovanovic ensured that the team from Novo Mesto held an eight-point lead at halftime – 50-42.
The third quarter was reminiscent of the second, with Mornar momentarily closing in to a single-possession deficit. However, in the closing moments, the guests orchestrated a 9-2 run, securing a significant nine-point lead (71-62). Isaiah Cousins played a significant role in maintaining the lead for Gasper Okorn’s team.
In the fourth quarter, with a 15-2 run, Mornar made a comeback, equalizing the score. Krka responded to Mornar’s lead with five consecutive points, but in the end, the home team sealed their triumph with a three-pointer from Dwight Murray.
The top scorer for Mornar was Nemanja Vranjes with 21 points, while Isaiah Cousins stood out for Krka with 24 points.
Krka is currently in 12th place in the standings, while Mornar is one position below. Both teams, after five rounds of play, have a record of 1-4.
