Mfiondu Kabengele is the latest in a series of NBA reinforcements in Europe, and the center signed a contract with AEK.
An extremely interesting basketball summer is underway. At least when it comes to big names arriving in Europe. The impression is that the arrival of Kemba Walker in the EuroLeague and Monaco opened the door from the NBA to Europe. For now, the Greek AEK is using it very well.
The team from Athens this summer brought Jordan McRae, Mindaugas Kuzminskas, Langston Hall, and the biggest shakeup was made by signing Ben McLemore. However, they clearly don’t plan to stop there.
Kabengele signed one-year contract with the team from Athens. He is a center who was selected with the 27th pick in the 2018 Draft by the Brooklyn Nets. During his NBA career, he played for the Clippers, the Cavaliers and the Celtics, having signed a two-way contract. He appeared in a total of 32 games in the strongest league in the world.
The last engagement was in the G League, where he had really great numbers. Kabengele averaged 18.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.4 blocks in 30 minutes of play and 40 games.
AEK will face MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari, and King Wilki Morskie Szczecin in Group D of the BCL Regular Season.
