Nicolas Laprovittola praised former coach Sarunas Jasikevicius after the Lithuanian left Barcelona over the summer.
Nicolas Laprovittola, who took on the role of captain in his third season with Barcelona, recently shared his views on the team’s summer decisions in an interview for Esports RAC1.
Barcelona underwent significant changes, especially with the implementation of a strict cost-cutting plan. The unexpected departure of former head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius had a profound impact on the team, and Laprovittola expressed his gratitude for his influence.
“We were all very happy with Saras because there were results, and the team was winning, but now it’s a different story. I have to adapt to what they ask of me. Roger is the coach, the leader, and the one who has to guide us,” said Laprovittola.
“Saras left an unforgettable mark on Barça; he defined the playing style. Under his leadership, Barça reached three consecutive EuroLeague Final Fours. I think Saras is the best coach I’ve ever had. He took me to another level. I never thought I could get there,” emphasized the Argentine point guard.
Despite the coaching transition, Laprovittola expressed his support for Roger Grimau, highlighting the different philosophies and approaches of the two coaches.
“In this new chapter, we have to adapt and come together under Roger as our coach. Whether it’s during training or providing motivation, we have to support each other,” Laprovittola stated.
