Nigel Hayes-Davis, a basketball player for Fenerbahce, spoke after the game against Monaco regarding the EuroLeague and the first game of the quarterfinal series.
Nigel Hayes-Davis aimed to lead his team to a 1-0 lead and thus gain a good position before at least two more showdowns. He succeeded and was the most valuable player with 19 points and seven rebounds (index 23). The game was marked by the comeback of the “Yellow Canaries” in the final period and overtime, from which they emerged victorious.
“Of course, it’s a great start to the series, we won. It could have been different. We didn’t finish the game with free throws, we allowed them too many offensive rebounds, made 10 or more silly fouls while in the bonus. There are a lot of things we need to improve, and I hope we won’t make the same mistakes.
Overtime? Such games are great for the fans. It’s important to start strong in the first two minutes. We had a few defensive stops and hit a few shots. Ideally, you close out the game from the free-throw line, but we didn’t do that either. As I said, there is a lot to be improved,” said Hayes-Davis.
The next game between the two teams is scheduled for Friday at 7:00 PM, at the same venue. Once again, Monaco will be the host.
