Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets player, spoke after the Game 4 against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA Western Conference semifinals.
Jokic managed to tie the series at 2-2 with his team after playing an excellent game, scoring 35 points along with seven rebounds and seven assists. On top of that, he scored a whopping 16 points in the final quarter and consistently found the right solution for his team every time.
“The physicality is the biggest difference compared to the first two games, we’re matching them in that sense, even surpassing them. We’re playing a bit smarter. We don’t have as many turnovers, we’re not giving them opportunities to run and get easy points, our defense is very good. That’s probably it,” said Jokic at the press conference.
On the importance of the fourth game, he added, “We know we haven’t done anything yet. We know the Game 5 will be the game of our lives, so we’ll prepare accordingly. Even before the series started, I thought it would be an interesting series. In the first two games, they sped us up, we didn’t play our game, but now we’ve regained our rhythm.”
Aaron Gordon was outstanding with 27 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. He missed only once from the field – 11/12.
“He was our best player today, he did everything. He doesn’t take credit, but he was a big factor in our title last year and this year’s games. Sometimes he’ll score, sometimes he won’t, but he accepts that, and that’s why he’s so good at his job,” concluded Jokic.
The next game of the series is scheduled for Wednesday morning at 4:30 AM in Denver.
