Nikola Jokic, player of the Denver Nuggets, won his third MVP award and thus entered the elite group of nine players.
It’s been a great season for the center. Throughout the season, he maintained a high level of play and propelled the Nuggets into the playoffs once again. Truth be told, the situation there is far from ideal, considering they’re down 2-0 in the series, especially after losing at home.
After being named the NBA’s best player, Jokic held a press conference where he dedicated a good part of it to the tragically deceased Dejan Milojevic, with whom he worked during his time at Mega Bemax.
“I always tell people that he meant even more to me when he wasn’t my coach but a family friend. We would always visit each other’s homes; it was a quality and genuine friendship. Deki was a person who would always tell you things as they are, without sugarcoating or hiding, someone you always want as a friend,” said Jokic.
During that conference, he wore a T-shirt dedicated to his former coach the entire time and revealed that he often wears it during training sessions.
“I wear it almost every day, especially during training. Deki was a man who gave me freedom, showed me how things should be done, how to train, how to behave, how to have positive energy and attitude. You can see the impact he had on so many players; he had a positive effect on me, even more as a friend than as a coach. He gave me the basketball freedom to do what I want, he trusted me, and I can only say – thank you.”
